For the 2024 call for nominations cover design of the annual San Diego’s Best U-T Readers Poll publication, I emphasized the ease of nominating using a mobile device—a tool we all rely on daily. To capture the essence of San Diego, I incorporated the brand’s colors and infused a sunny, whimsical vibe into the photo-illustration, ensuring the message is clear, inviting, and engaging. The design effectively conveys the interactive and straightforward process for readers to nominate their favorites across more than 175 categories from every corner of San Diego County. The goal is for these nominations to advance as finalists and ultimately be crowned the Best of San Diego in their categories. The San Diego Union-Tribune encourages readers to participate, celebrating the very best the region has to offer.
